“That band is terrible.“ A statement I hear far too often. If you have heard or spoken these words read on! A common misconception in the world of music is that bands are flat out terrible. Someone can break by just hearing these four words, and the statement may not even be true.

People generally make the statement that bands are terrible when they simply don’t care for them. I have heard so many times from so many people that the bands or songs I like are “terrible”. While that person may not particularly care for the band that doesn’t make them horrible.

I feel personally cut down when people insult my favorite band. The music that I listen to is a part of me and I don’t want anyone taking that away from me, or making me feel like I’m less of a person for liking a band. I believe that people need to remember this when expressing their opinions about not only music, but books, movies, and really anything. Just because you don’t like something doesn’t make it bad. Try saying “I don’t care for them” or “Not my style” the next time your opinions differ with someone else’s.
